Please join the Palmer Lake Historical Society to hear a beautiful story about sacrifice and honor. Jim Sawatzki, past president of the PLHS, will present his 30-minute video Above and Beyond - A Hero’s Story which recounts the life of William “Bill” J. Crawford, in his own words.
William “Bill” Crawford is perhaps best known for shocking cadets at the Air Force Academy in the 1980s: Their shy janitor, it turned out, was also a Medal of Honor recipient. He was a long-time resident of both Monument and Palmer Lake. In the year 2000, he passed away at the age of 81. His head stone reads: “For Love of God & Country” and William is buried with his wife at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
Bring a friend or two and stay afterwards for light refreshments and socializing. (Doors open at 6:30). Free and open to the public. We follow District 38 weather closures, we want everyone to be safe.

This festive event is a perfect opportunity to enjoy quality time with family and friends, find inspiration, and immerse yourself in the holiday spirit.
A Meaningful Tradition: This annual home tour is more than just a delightful outing; it's a crucial fundraising event that supports our community. Every Dollar Counts: 100% of all proceeds from our fundraising events go directly to our grants program. In May 2024, we awarded $30,000 to 17 different nonprofits and District 38 schools. Our grants have a tangible impact, making a significant difference in the lives of those who benefit from them.
Join us in celebrating the season and supporting a worthy cause.
Your participation not only brings holiday cheer but also contributes to meaningful change in our community.
