Taste of Tri-Lakes Cares is our signature fundraising event combining good food with inter-active games designed to highlight the various programs and services we provide in northern El Paso County.

Modeled after the Food Network's television show "Chopped, chefs from local restaurants and businesses are invited to participate. They receive a "basket" of food items typically found in our Market or pantry and are challenged to use these ingredients (and any additions they may choose to add) to create a single dish for sampling at the event. We event throw in an unusual item to help with the challenge. The goal is to showcase how ordinary items from our pantry can be transformed into tasty and unusual dishes. You are invited to vote for your favorites with the winner getting bragging rights!

While you are sampling the various food offerings, you are invited to visit interactive game tables which teach you about Tri-Lakes Cares, the programs and services we provide, and about the reality of poverty in our community. The interactive tables are hosted by local business sponsors.

Upon arrival at the event, you receive a "passport." As you visit the interactive tables, passports are stamped and when leaving, drop the completed passports in a box for a final drawing of restaurant gifts cards and other prizes. In addition, each of the interactive game tables have the opportunity to win a prize.

During the evening, a short program with client testimonials, will culminate in an opportunity to make a financial donation to support the mission of Tri-Lakes Cares.

Come join the Palmer Lake Historical Society as we meet Rocky Shockley & T. Duren Jones, authors of Easy Hikes to the Hidden Past: Pikes Peak Region Edition. There are excellent hiking books & many history books available for the Pikes Peak region, but our presenters will combine the two in an entertaining visual presentation.

Learn about some wonderful walks, hikes & bike rides, & make discoveries of the region's-often hidden-historic past. These authors provide well-researched trail explorations with an educational "treasure hunt" for relics of times gone by that should not be forgotten. The Pikes Peak Region Edition covers Monument & Palmer Lake, Colorado Springs, Manitou Springs, Cripple Creek & Canyon City.

Easy Hikes to the Hidden Past offers something for everyone, with varied physical abilities. Some discoveries can be seen from the car window as you drive through history, some can be accessed by walking or on a bike, still others by trail hiking, all of which would be classified as easy to moderate difficulty level. Trail maps ideas, trivia, historical photos, humor & insights.

Doors open at 6:30 PM, program starts at 7:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served after the program. FREE & open to the public. We welcome other historical nonprofits to join us to learn about this valuable resource. Learn about Colorado's colorful past.
