Covered Treasures Bookstore, 105 Second Street, Monument, 719-481-2665 is hosting two mystery authors on Thursday, March 9, from 4-7.  Margaret Mizushima will sign her latest in her Timber Creek mystery series, Standing Dead, and Scott Graham will sign his latest in his National Park Mystery series, Saguaro Sanction.  At 6 that evening, Margaret and Scott will do a short presentation on their book series.  We look forward to a fun evening in March.

KKK in 1920s Denver, Colorado 
Join the Palmer Lake Historical Society for a presentation on the Denver KKK during the 1920s. Ms. Shaun Boyd, History Colorado Denver, Curator of Archives will present on how the Klan pressured local governments, why it differed from the KKK of the South & why it grew to over 30,000 enrollees before dwindling & losing influence. Few Colorado residents know the influence of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) had on Denver in the 1920s.  Come and learn about this difficult subject. Doors open at 6:30 and program starts at 7:00. Light refreshments follow program. FREE and open to the pubic. The Palmer Lake Historical Society serves our greater community by publishing books, pamphlets and the commissioning/sponsoring of historical DVDs.

We are a 501(c)(3) Educational Non-Profit and the only organization dedicated to preserving the History of the Palmer Divide area. Visit the Museum and our Website to learn more and obtain a membership form. We are supported by the people of the area and have no paid fundraisers or staff.

Active Shooter Class


Description:
In this seminar, you will discover how to handle an active shooter situation. This class is designed for the business owner wanting to prepare self and staff to best respond under these stressful circumstances.

The session will be from 6-7:30 pm. Detective Marks will be available for questions between 7:30-8 pm.

March 29th has been designated as a day to celebrate the patriotism and sacrifices of those men and women who served in the Vietnam War.  To commemorate this day, American Legion Tri-Lakes Post 9-11 along with other organizations will participate in a short ceremony at 10 AM at the Veteran Memorial in the Monument Cemetery. Those who can,  please attend and pay tribute to those veterans.
