Hurricane Helene

Radar image from NOAA of Hurricane Helene on 9/25/2024 over the Gulf Coast.

Many associates, customers and members in the communities we serve are experiencing the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene. Our thoughts are with those affected, and we are acting quickly to help. Now and before the storm made landfall, our teams have been working closely with local leaders and organizations to assess needs, support associates and deliver donations of supplies to organizations supporting relief efforts.

Walmart, Sam’s Club and the Walmart Foundation are committing an initial $6 million in support of hurricane relief efforts, including donations of food, water, essential supplies and grants to organizations providing relief. Our customers and members are some of the most generous people we know. As part of this commitment, Walmart will help magnify their impact by matching their donations to the American Red Cross 1:1, up to $2.5 million, when they donate to support hurricane relief at the registers in stores and clubs and on Walmart.com from Sept. 30 – Oct. 13.

When our cashiers ask you to round up, it adds up and goes a long ways.

We are also working with nonprofits and suppliers to bring much-needed resources into communities without access to power, such as free meals, WiFi hotspot, charging stations and laundry and shower services.

Throughout the recovery, we will continue looking for ways to support our associates, customers, members and their families.

Here, we’re providing more information on our support for the communities and the status of stores and clubs in the impacted areas. We’ll continue to update this page in the coming days.

Come join us at the Palmer Lake Town Hall for an exciting event! The process of researching and nominating a property for the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties is quite an undertaking.

Jack Anthony has done it twice for Palmer Lake. Come hear about this interesting project he undertook. In 2012, the Palmer Lake Star, originally named the “Star of Bethlehem” shining since 1935, was approved and in 2019, the Palmer Lake Town Hall was nominated and approved. These were both great accomplishments and took a lot of careful research and documentation.

Jack is passionate about Palmer Divide area history, a friend of PLHS, and helps keep our history alive. The Palmer Lake Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization serving the Palmer Divide area since 1956.

We hope you will join us for this special evening. Bring a friend or two and stay afterwards for light refreshments and socializing. Sure to be a fun time. Doors open at 6:30.
