Event Name:
Monthly Education Series - New January 2023 State Laws will affect every business - Attend to discover what businesses need to know

Description:
2023 brings new requirements for business owners. This workshop will educate you about the 401 (k) vs. Colorado Secure Savings Program and Colorado’s paid family and medical leave insurance (FAMLI) program.

  • The Colorado Secure Savings Program is a state sponsored retirement savings program that increases access to affordable retirement savings opportunities.Enrollment is slated to begin in 2023. Employees with 5 or more employees that have been in the business 2+ years and do not already have a retirement program will be required to enroll or provide an employer sponsored retirement to their employees.
  • FAMLI – Colorado’s paid family and medical leave insurance (FAMLI) program bgins in 2024. Colorado’s paid family and medical leave insurance program will provide paid time off when employees face life circumstances – like serious illnesses, welcoming a new child or carding for a loved one with a serious health condition. Employees and their employees are both responsible for funding the program. Employers are required to begin premium deductions on January 1, 2023. All employers, regardless of the size, will be required to register with the FAMLI Division before the first premium payment is due at the end of the first quarter of 2023.

Does your business ask its workers to promise that they will not steal your trade
secrets, employees, or customers? Many businesses do, but under new
Colorado Law effective August of 2022, these kind of agreements are subject
to additional scrutiny. If you do not bring your business into compliance with the
new law, you could be placing your confidential business information in danger
and even be subject to criminal liability!

Please join Underhill Law, P.C. for a free workshop to discuss this new law and
what your business may need to consider in order to comply. At this workshop,
we will provide general legal information concerning what kind of agreements
are covered by the new statute, things to consider when justifying such
agreements to protect a trade secret, how to make such agreements
reasonable, and other practical considerations.
