Join local butterfly expert Steve Fisher from Heartland Connect and plant expert Elise Hughes Berheimfrom Garden Of The Gods Walkabout for a 2+ mile hike where we will educate you on the local butterfly and plant species of the front range. This tour will be held Saturday June 29th & Saturday July 13th at the Palmer Lake Reservoir. We will meet at the trail head parking lot at 9 AM and then hike up to both the reservoir and main lake learning about the local plants and butterflies.
While we will hike 2+ miles on these days, the pace will be slow as we take time to really enjoy the nature that is around us. If you haven’t hiked up to the reservoir/lake before, be prepared to take in some beautiful views from one of the best local places to visit. Don’t forget to bring the kids and be sure to have a hat, sun screen, water and snacks for this adventure.
Butterfly guide sheets will be provided to help you track most of the local species we will see. The amount of butterflies observed on these trips will depend on how well the weather cooperates. If it is sunny, count on seeing 20-30+ different local butterfly species including most of the large Swallowtails that live in Colorado.
Please RSVP if you plan to come to Steven.fisher@e-hps.com and call if you have any questions.
