Did you know the Western Museum of Mining and Industry's property was originally the Reynolds Ranch Farmstead dating back to the late 1800's? Join as we celebrate this heritage and our outdoor mining machinery on Family Day: Farming & Ranching on Saturday, August 24, 10am to 3pm.  This special event will feature farming and ranching exhibits, hayrides, gold panning, stamp mill operation, a blacksmith and machine demos.  Featured exhibitors include Gingersnap Rescue Ranch, Dianne's Dahlias, Our Red Barn Ranch, Palmer Land Conservancy, Heritage Belle Farms, Manitou Springs Seed Library, Twig and Berry Dyes, Pikes Peak Beekeepers' Association and Smokey the Pig Food Truck.
Come see the powerful Yellow Jacket Stamp Mill in action!  Feel the power as the entire building seems to come alive to crush ore in search of gold. Watch the 1920’s Osgood Steam Shovel (made famous by the beloved children’s book, “Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel”) as it revs its gears plus other equipment used in mining operations. Hop on a hayride to the Blacksmith Shop or try your hand at panning. If you’re hungry, Smokey the Pig Barbeque will be here with some delicious offerings.   Mark your calendar for this educational and fun-filled day for all ages!
Admission for Family Industry Day includes all outside activities and demonstrations for just $5 per car!  Admission may be purchased in advance online through the museum website or at the gate on the day of the event.  Separate admission applies to the museum inside. Museum members are FREE.
