In the spirit of staying inspired during these crazy upside-down times I am so excited to announce the BLISS STUDIO SCULPTURE CONTEST!
Two winners will be chosen from submitted designs to have their sculpture produced by the studio- with your help! I will help you to turn your design into a reality! We will prep all of the material and two lucky winners will get to come work with us in the shop for the weekend to build their piece! I will then have it powder coated and help you to do any finishing work, AND if you wish we will also help you to photograph your work and set you up on Call For Entry where you can submit your work to public art calls (which generally rent your piece for a year for $500-$2000- you get to keep your piece and can rent it out year after year all over Colorado, Kansas, nationwide if you so desire!)
Or you might choose to put the piece in your own yard, or in front of your business!
We will also have an Event Page through Bliss Studio & Gallery on Facebook where I encourage everyone to post ideas, inspiration, working images and to give each other encouragement, feedback and inspiration! We will be posting inspirational videos here as well!🙂
You're welcome to work on this individually or as a family! Check out the website for details!

Finished artwork is judged by Bliss Studio & Gallery jurors.
There will be two winners: A student from an El Paso County High School System and an El Paso County Resident.
The age requirement for this contest is 15 and up. *Please note, parents must agree to attend the Weekend Welding and Assembly Workshop with any student under the age of 18.
IMPORTANT: When you have finished your design complete the online form at ForgeYourBliss.com and email photos of your design to BlissSculptureContest@gmail.com. You may submit up to three designs. Images must be a max of 1mb at 72 dpi.
Winners will be notified on May 7th, 2020 via phone, email and announced on FaceBook.
Each winner will have a meeting with Jodie Bliss to transform their concept into a piece that can be fabricated within the material guidelines and the capabilities of the studio.
Material Guidelines: Each piece will need to fit on two 4’ x 4’ sheets of 11 gauge steel and some bar stock with limited forged elements. This will allow for a piece somewhere between 4’-6’ tall depending on design.
Bliss Studio & Gallery will cut and prep materials and have them ready for assembly for the Weekend Welding and Assembly Workshop where both winners will work on their pieces simultaneously.
Each piece will be powder coated from a selection of colors discussed at your meeting with Jodie and - if desired - a paint or forced rust finish can also be applied after powder coating.
Once the pieces are finished we will assist you in photographing your work and help you set up a CallForEntry account so that you can submit your pieces to public art calls if you want! Or you can take them home for display.
People are welcome to work as a family or with another person. Maximum 4 participants per entry. A family of 4 in the workshop must be within the minimum age of 15 with parents present at the workshop.
Production of pieces will begin - TBD as we are keeping a thoughtful eye on the COVID-19 health crisis.
